Starting college is scary! A bunch of us newly-graduated people/college seniors wish that someone would have given us some college secrets and insider knowledge. Here's that list. ♦
Start Being Organized
And care about going to class. You may think you don't need to go because you're zoning out the whole time anyway, but your brain is actually retaining more information than if you were to try to learn it on your own.
I've seen more than a few people fail their first semester because they either didn't try or they partied too much. Don't be one of those people!
It helps to stay organized especially when you're trying to figure out how to study for your classes.
Take Care of Yourself
Freshman year of college is when you should learn the importance of eating healthy and taking care of your body. It's really good to start a routine for yourself and stick with it. It's hard to keep it going when balancing studying, going to class and your social life, but you can do it!
I wish I had explored my city more. Gone on more road trips, random adventures, etc. Luckily, studying abroad gave me my biggest adventure yet (which I highly recommend)!
But don't wait until your last years of college to explore and do fun things with your friends. Doing the same routine things gets really boring.
Don't Be Scared of Being Independent
For most of you, this is the first time living away from your parents. Being on your own is empowering, so embrace it!
You'll be a little bit homesick at first, but you will come to love living away from your parents (and then enjoy a nice home-cooked meal every so often). You will also probably look at everyone from your hometown still living with their parents and think, how do they do that?
Enjoy your new-found independence!!
