The History of Pi Kappa Phi

Pi Kappa Phi is unique because it operates in four entities. There is the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, the Pi Kappa Phi foundation, the Ability Experience, and Pi Kappa Phi Properties. The fraternity runs its own philanthropy, which is called The Ability Experience. This philanthropy works closely with individual chapters to provide services and support to people living with disabilities throughout the U.S.

Over the years, Pi Kappa Phi has graduated several notable members, including several prominent figures in business, athletics, politics, science, and entertainment. These members include Andrew James, Deputy Chairman of Lazard Freres, Dick Bartlett, Vice-Chairmen of Mary Kay, Mark Clayton Hollis, former CEO of Publix Supermarkets, Karl W. Moore, former VP & CIO of International Paper, and Keven Smilak, co-founder of Scour.

The fraternity’s official publication is The Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity Journal, which began in 1909 and was changed to Star & Lamp, in 1911.
