The History of Alpha Epsilon Pi

Alpha Epsilon Pi was founded on the campus of New York University in November of 1913. While the fraternity abides by Jewish principals, it’s a non-denominational organization that accepts men from all backgrounds, faiths, and walks of life, as long as they’re willing to uphold the AEPi ideals of service and brotherhood.

With 186 chapters and more than 102,000 members throughout Canada, the United State, The U.K. Israel, France, Austria, and Australia, Alpha Epsilon Pi is one of the furthest-reaching fraternities in existence. Its headquarters are in Indianapolis, Indiana, and its mascot is The Lion. Dedicated to community works, Alpha Epsilon Pi officially supports a number of philanthropic organizations, including Gift of Life Marrow Registry, Heroes to Heroes Foundation, Israel Children’s Cancer FOundation, and Taglit-Birthright Israel.

Notable alumnae of the Alpha Epsilon Pi brotherhood include James L. Brooks, Paul Simon, Gene Wilder, Mark Zuckerberg, Alan Baker, the former Israeli Ambassador to Canada, Ken Chertow, former Olympic wrestler, Bob Diener, Founder of Hotels.com, Frank Gehry, the architect behind the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, and Matt Van Horn, the founder of Lyft.

A historic and storied organization, Alpha Epsilon Pi will continue its good works as long as the organization continues.
