The History of Kappa Psi
Kappa Psi was founded in 1879, but went through several inceptions before reaching its modern format. In 1924, the fraternity split into two branches: Kappa Psi and Theta Kappa Psi, which is a specifically medical fraternity. Today, there are 106 collegiate chapters and 74 graduate chapters throughout the U.S. and Canada, and more than 80,000 people have been initiated into the fraternity since it began. Its official colors are scarlet and gray, and its official flower is the red carnation.
Today, the fraternity divides into eleven provinces to organize its members. These include the Atlantic Province, the Great Lakes Province, the Gulf Coast Province, the Mid-America Province, and the Northeast Province. The fraternity’s headquarters is in Richardson, Texas, and its official publication is The Mask.
