Beta Theta Pi
Beta Theta Pi was founded on August 8, 1939 at Miami University, making it one of the oldest and largest fraternities in North America. There have been more than 215,000 members initiated worldwide, across 118 active chapters and 25 colonies. Beta's mission statement is: "Beta Theta Pi is dedicated to developing men of principle for a principled life."

The History of Beta Theta Pi
Beta Theta Pi is 177 years old,and was founded on the campus of Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio. As one of the U.S.’s oldest fraternities, Beta Theta Pi currently has more than 110 active chapters and 26 colonies throughout the U.S. and Canada. There are more than 300,000 lifetime members and approximately 10,000 undergraduate members. It is part of the “Miami Triad,” along with Phi Delta Theta and Sigma Chi, although it is the oldest of the three fraternities.
The original purpose of Beta Theta Pi was to promote intellect, responsible conduct, assistance of one’s brother, trust, and integrity. The fraternity’s mission statement is to “Develop men of principle for a principled life.” In 1879, Beta Theta Pi took a bold step and became the first fraternity in history to publish its constitution in full.
Beta Theta Pi is best known for its various leadership programs and Men of Principal Initiative, which support undergraduate students and give them the tools they need to live purposeful lives. Notable graduates of Beta Theta Pi include Douglas Cramer, legendary art collector, Bergen Evans, Rhodes Scholar, Robert Wilson, Playwright, and Ken Welch, an Emmy-winning television writer.
