Alpha Sigma Alpha is a sorority that was founded in 1901 at the Virginia State Female Normal School, currently known as Longwood University. The sorority encompasses 170 chapters, with a lifetime membership of more than 120,000. At the beginning, ASA only accepted members pursuing careers in education, but the sorority grew to accept members from all majors.
