Sorority Recruitment Outfits: What to Wear When You're Rushing a Sorority (Updated 2018)

The age-old question: "What should I wear?" The funny thing is that this question changes from year to year, so we have updated our guide for the 2018-2019 school year! You're all excited to start college and to rush a sorority, but are at a loss for what to wear during the whole process. Sorority recruitment outfits usually depend on each day. From preference night dresses to sorority house tours outfits, we've got you covered. You'll be set with the outfit inspo once you've read this post! Each school does it differently, but I'm speaking from my personal experience at San Diego State. A general rule-of-thumb when deciding on outfits for rush week is each day gets progressively dressier. I always tend to overdress to play it safe (thanks Mom for teaching me that). And, you should keep it classy. No skin-tight outfits or too-high heels. Think brunch with Grandma or a wedding. :) Not going out on a Saturday night. Make sure to check with your school's recruitment rules to see which outfits are appropriate. Some schools require that you cover your shoulders as well as midriff. Some schools are more casual than others, and vice versa. So double check with the recruitment guidelines or see what other girls are wearing, and you'll be good to go. With that, let's get into the awesome sorority recruitment outfits!

Day 1: Sorority Letters Day (sometimes called Open House)

This is the day where you visit all the houses (they split it into two days at SDSU because there are so many houses), talk to a few different girls within each chapter, and make some decisions on which ones you like and don't like. Letters Day is the most casual day! So feel free to wear flats/sandals with white jeans and a cute top, or a casual sundress. You can also dress it up a bit and wear summery wedges with your casual outfit. When I was going through rush, girls pretty much wore heels or wedges every day.   [caption id="attachment_1035" align="aligncenter" width="410"]sorority recruitment outfits - Greek U Source: Pinterest[/caption]

Day 2: Service Day (Philanthropy Day)

Service Day is all about the sorority's philanthropy. Sometimes you will do crafts, and other times you will just hear about the charity. This day is a little more dressy, but still pretty casual. I would recommend wearing flats with a sundress, or a cute romper with flats/sandals. You can wear wedges today, but it's still fine to wear flat shoes! Think: an outfit for a BBQ!   [caption id="attachment_1037" align="aligncenter" width="485"]sorority recruitment outfits - Greek U Source: Pinterest[/caption]

Day 3: Sorority House Tours Day (Skit Day) Outfit

House Tours was my personal favorite day all around. You get to go into all parts of the house and your conversations get more personal. This is the day you start to really see if you can picture yourself in that house. It was also my favorite outfit day. You should be wearing a nicer, summery dress with wedges or casual heels.   [caption id="attachment_1040" align="aligncenter" width="502"]sorority recruitment outfits - Greek U Source: Pinterest[/caption] [caption id="attachment_3104" align="aligncenter" width="350"]Casual Heels - sorority recruitment outfits - Greek U Source: Lulus[/caption] [caption id="attachment_3105" align="aligncenter" width="350"]Casual heels - sorority recruitment outfits - Greek U Source: Pinterest[/caption]

Day 4: Sorority Pref Night Dress

This night is the dressiest. You will be going to your final two houses, and usually the girls will be wearing all black or all white dresses. You should be wearing a semi-formal dress and heels to this event; think what you would wear to a wedding. Pref night dresses help make the event special and more formal.   [caption id="attachment_1043" align="aligncenter" width="648"]sorority recruitment outfits - Greek U Source: Pinterest[/caption]   After Pref Night, you go get your bid! You just wear white/denim shorts and a plain tank top, because you will be getting a bid day shirt from your new home! :) Then comes the best part: Bid Day! Bid Day was definitely one of the highlights of my freshman year. You get to meet all of your pledge class sisters for the first time, and there is so much hype around the new class of ladies! And so begins the process of meeting everyone in your house and others in the Greek system! After you get a bid, you'll get to rock so much cute Greek clothing. Good luck with recruitment ladies! ♥ Make sure to share this post on Facebook to share the cute outfit inspo!
